We mourn our lose but celebrate the cause
That cost the ultimate measure of your
Devotion, proclaimed in blazing glory,
And sealed your rendezvous with Destiny.
In votive gratitude, our homage pledge
To keep your torch aflame and let endure
Ages of unbegot posterity.
So every fragment that your ship had strewn
Would our ambitions amply leverage
And claim your vintage courage as our own:
All wholesome sacrifice to Liberty

It saddens me to come across, on the anniversary of the SS Columbia mishap, the report ofprojected NASA cutbacks by the Obama Administration for the next budget cycle. In an effort to countermand my grief, I beg your indulgence to allow me to share with you the sentiments expressed in the above sonnet which I penned the very day of the mishap.
